In her current series called What Lies Beneath, Aleksandra is uncovering the psychology of colour. How do you create a mood?
Her abstract vocabulary is abundant with subconscious symbols. Using specific colours, contrasting techniques and contrasting values she creates a tension between the opposing elements. She explores how ones visual senses can be ignited by an experience.
“I want to capture the moment when you feel the magnitude of nature and the small things that make your body react to it. Like the glint of light you see coming off the water on a hot summer’s day or the fear that comes over you when you dive deep underwater and you look up to see the surface.”
These emotional cues can be captured with colour.
Architectural and topographic references continue to be seen in the work with subtle lines and organized grids. With hard and soft angles and with shifts in large and small scales.
